Last night, the 28th May, the Government announced the resumption of dental services from the 8th June. We will not receive the directive regarding updated operating procedures until next week! We kindly ask that patients do not attend the practice unless directed to do so.

The aim is for there to be a full range of dental care in all practices, as rapidly as practicable. In developing this approach, the Chief Dental Officer recognises the following:

  • clear safety standards, including the availability of the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) and infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols are required to safely deliver dental care, as recommended by Public Health England (PHE)
  • that given the dual impacts of IPC requirements and changed patient behaviour during the pandemic, previous operating volumes will not be possible
  • that remote consultations will continue as part of a practice’s revised operating model

This start date has come as a shock to all dentists in England as a phased return to treatment had been discussed previously. A phased return is commencing in Wales and Scotland from July.

If you have a dental problem, please contact the practice on 01565 632343 or 07980 105206
